Worship Services
At St Paul’s, we understand that our faith is rooted first and foremost in a real encounter with the living God. In all our services and celebrations we seek to meet with God, through the Lord Jesus, in the power of the Holy Spirit. Of course, we also know that everyone is different and that we meet with God in different ways. Therefore we provide a number of worship services and celebrations which are varied in style to enable people of different backgrounds and experience to worship the Lord in ways they find most helpful. Below is a list of the worship services we provide.
ON SUNDAY 9:00am Holy Communion This is a traditional Anglican service of Holy Communion, using the Book of Common Prayer in its original language. The service is quiet and reflective, and lasts about 45 minutes. At this ser vice, each week you can enjoy the rich liturgy of the Prayer Book, listen to the scriptures and a sermon, have a chance to pray, and receive Communion at the Lord’s table.
10:45am Morning Celebration This is the main gathering of our church family on a Sunday, and is suitable for all ages. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and the worship informal in style, incorporating both grand traditional hymns and modern worship music. There is an important focus on teaching and preaching, and space is made for personal encounter with God. At the end, we enjoy a time to meet together over refreshments. The service usually lasts around 1¼ hours. Whereas the feel of this service is always similar, we enjoy a repeating rhythm of events on the different Sundays through the month. For example, on the first Sunday of the month, we welcome in local families bringing their children for baptism, and the fourth Sunday is always a service of Holy Communion. On the third Sunday we enjoy a family service, where people of all ages learn to worship Jesus together. If you have younger children, they will be able to enjoy Noah’s Ark during the celebration. After worshipping together at the beginning, the children are invited out to Noah’s Ark where they learn through fun and crafts the same message that is preached in the church. Towards the end of the celebration the children come back and show everyone what they’ve learnt. We’re always very impressed! [Adult leaders in Noah’s Ark are CRB checked].
10:30am Sunday School This is St Paul’s dedicated Children’s Church which takes place during school term times at St Paul’s Church Hall, in the grounds of St Paul’s CE Primary School. Here children from age 3-11 can explore faith in the Lord Jesus through song, games and craft, and learn to read the Bible and pray. Sunday School finishes at 12 noon. There are two groups – Climbers for children aged 3-6, and Explorers for those aged 7-11. For more information Click Here Please note that Sunday School does not take place on the third Sunday of the month, as children and families are invited to worship together at the family service in church.
6:30pm Evening Worship To round off our Sunday worship, this is a reflective, intimate little service where even more space can be given to listening and responding to God’s Word and engaging in prayer. Lasting between 45-60 minutes, this time of worship often proves to be a lovely and refreshing way to finish the day. Holy Communion is celebrated on the third Sunday of the month, and on some Sundays throughout the year, we host a special memorial service for bereaved families. ON WEDNESDAY 10:00am Midweek Communion On Wednesday we meet to worship together and share Holy Communion. Between 10 and 10:30, people gather to catch up with each other over a cuppa, and at 10:30 the service starts. The service is structured yet warm and relaxed in feel, and space is always made to properly engage with God’s Word and respond in prayer. The service normally finishes before 11:15.
A hearing loop is in operation at all our services, and there is a toilet. |
